The Miller's Greenhouse

The greenhouse was donated to Urban Roots by Dr. Robert & Mrs. Sheri Miller of Grand Island. Avid gardeners, the Millers have used this lean-to, curved eave style greenhouse year-round for several decades to grow tomatoes from seed, and to cultivate orchids, geraniums and other plants and vegetables.

Dan Keefe, Harvey Garrett, Tim Lowrey and Ben O’Brien helped to disassemble the greenhouse today at the Miller’s Grand Island home. The greenhouse donation includes custom-designed tables, as well as miscellaneous related supplies. We will store it in the Urban Roots garage for future use on the 428 Rhode Island St. property.

Today we moved all the greenhouse glass to the Urban Roots garage and took down 95% of the structure. Help is still needed to load, transport and unload the steel ribs and truss beams of the greenhouse structure, as well as the tables. If anyone has time this week or next weekend, please contact Joanna.
