Workshops for All Ages
- To be rescheduled* – Natural Photography – Sunprints
Explore nature and photography with a Sunprint workshop. Please RSVP by July 1. Sunprints are photographs made without a camera, using the cyanotype photographic process. By placing objects such as leaves, flowers, feathers, twigs etc., directly onto light sensitive paper and then exposing the paper to light, a very old and seemingly magical process results in an image that is unique, showing white shapes against a beautiful blue background. Non-toxic and archival, this very fun activity is safe for artists of all ages. No photo chemicals are needed to develop sunprints. Simply rinsing them with water completes the process. Appropriate for ages 6 and up. Materials supplied for 4 or more sunprints. Sunprints can then be made into cards or framed artwork. Presented by Sandra Williams Gordon, photographer and Urban Roots member-owner.Past workshops:
- Saturday, June 21st, 2008 – Flower Press a workshop for children and parents presented by Karen Sirgey of Avian Architecture. Learn to make simple, victorian flower presses so you can dry and save summer flowers. Decorate them with paint and decoupage and it’s a great project for families.
