Jim Charlier

Jim Charlier is a member of Urban Roots’ Advisory Council.

Jim, an independent advertising designer, has been busy the past 20-plus years in the marketing field, serving financial services, retail, wine, health care, auto, industrial, fundraising, education, technology, and travel/tourism industries. Most of these years were spent working in Buffalo’s largest advertising agencies. Now he serves businesses directly with JCharlier Communication Design. Jim has won national and regional awards and recognition in national publications along the way. 

Enjoying his peculiar mix of art & business, Jim has also been actively involved in many Buffalo/Niagara groups that do the same. He is a member of the advisory committees of the Castellani Art Museum, Erie 1 BOCES Graphic Design Technology Program, and the Villa Maria College Graphic Design Department. He is an active member of the Advertising Club of Buffalo. He is a past president of the Art Directors/Communicators of Buffalo and former member of the Forever Elmwood Architectural Design Committee.

In the Gardening arena, Jim has been involved with Garden Walk Buffalo since 1996. He is currently Co-chair of the event. He is also the designer of the book Garden Walk Buffalo taking the beautiful photography of Don Zinteck and the skilled writing of Elizabeth Licata and making a lush and significant book that highlights Buffalo’s urban gardens, to be envied by any gardener, anywhere.
