Anthony Armstrong
Anthony Armstrong is the President of Urban Roots Garden Center’s Board of Directors. Anthony serves as Program Officer for the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) Buffalo, in which capacity he provides technical assistance, planning, and support to Community Development Corporations (CDCs) and other LISC clients on issues related to housing, economic development, and community revitalization throughout the City of Buffalo. LISC Buffalo is also active in shaping public policy pertaining to community development and neighborhood revitalization, as well as community-based economic development (CED) initiatives.
He serves as chair of the Expansion and Development Committee for MicroBiz Buffalo, a microentrepreneurial facilitator which coordinates the efforts of thirteen public, academic, and non-profit service providers. He is also the Treasurer of the Allentown Association, chairs the economic development working group of the City’s West Side Good Neighbors Planning Alliance, and is a member of both the Partners for a Livable Western New York and the Central Terminal Restoration Corporation.
Prior to his tenure at LISC, Mr. Armstrong served as Manager of Public Policy at the Buffalo Niagara Partnership – a 2,500 member regional business advocacy group. He holds an M.S. in Urban Affairs from Hunter College in Manhattan and a B.A. in Media Study from SUNY at Buffalo.
