Urban Roots has received a shipment of dozens of beautiful and unusual pumpkins from Ancestral Acres farm. There are ten different varieties. Some are bright orange, green , striped, grey, pink, white, and they vary in shape and size too. On their own, arranged in a grouping, or combined in a display with traditional orange round pumpkins, these will make a unique and artful fall decoration in your garden or in your home.
Many of these are actually squash varieties and several are edible. One variety, Makai, has seeds that can be roasted in the oven like pumpkin seeds, but these seeds are hull-less so you don’t have to bother shelling them – just pop them in your mouth by the handful if you want. Another type, called Long Island Cheese, has an exceptional flavor and dense flesh making it a perfect squash for pie baking. (Quantities are limited in some varieties, so shop early for the best selection.)
We also have a great selection of traditional pumpkins for carving or decorating, as well as small pie pumpkins, gourds, corn stalks and straw bales. Fall decorating just got a whole lot more fun!
