Capital Campaign

In Buffalo, April showers bring May flowers and given all the rain this Spring, we are undoubtedly in for a bountiful season of birth and growth.

As a member-owner of Urban Roots, you can certainly appreciate the toil and cultivation involved in making a seed sprout. Urban Roots, with nearly four years under its belt, is poised to grow beyond a start-up business. To date, we now have 714 member-owners. By 2012, Urban Roots is looking to offer 100% locally grown plants. Not to mention, that most of those offerings are exclusive to the store. Since its inception, Urban Roots has partnered with such notable local organizations as: the Olmstead Parks Conservancy, Grassroots Gardens, Heart of the City and Buffalo Green Options. Lastly, Urban Roots now employs one person full-time and six part-timers.

Without your contribution of time, effort and funding, none of the aforementioned accomplishments would have been possible.

Urban Roots’ Grow Strong, Grow Smart $20,000 capital campaign plans include:

- An exterior shelving structure to display our expanding local plant inventory.
- An irrigation system to make full use of the only potable well within the City limits.
by having your name imprinted
- A cement driving pad to allow greater access to landscaping materials for our customers. into a petal of our logo—stamped
into our new parking pad!
- Display units to showcase our growing supply of houseplants, gifts and specialty items.
- Planting an impressive front garden that will be an area landmark.

Now that Urban Roots is maturing, I hope that you will continue to share in our growth. Please see the response card below to indicate your ongoing cultivation of the seed you once planted. Whether you are a gardener or community activist, Urban Roots needs your help to bring greater professionalism and sustainability to the West Side. Every gesture is appreciated.

Respectfully Yours,
